Ambitions was formed in 2005 with only a few goals in mind: to have fun and to create music that was a departure from the current music scene. Started by current guitarists of With Honor Jay and Jeff Aust, the group initially sprung from the two jamming with Jay on drums and Jeff on guitar. They would soon bring in With Honor drummer John Ross to cement the lineup, who literally learned the songs during the recording of the first demo. With the help of friend and producer Greg Thomas, the group completed the "No Limits" demo in just several days at his Silver Bullet Studios in Burlington, CT. The demo was a product of many shared duties: Jay recorded the vocals, 2nd guitar, and bass, Jeff tracked 1st guitar and bass, and John completed drums and bass. Receiving a positive response from the demo, Ambitions recruited good friends Matt Fox and Matt Fletcher (of Shai Hulud infamy) and began playing shows in the Northeast in early 2006. Lyrically and musically, Ambitions attempts to tackle themes of introspection and self-exploration, or "coming to terms with the disparity between our youthful aspirations and the reality of the world," according to vocalist Jay Aust. Ambitions strives to break through the genre barriers that plague the current hardcore/punk scene by playing honest music that they enjoy, without limiting themselves to any one scene's constraints. Already receiving rave reviews through several high-profile, national publications, their debut EP "Question" on Think Fast! Records marks just the beginning.
